Ray Wright is set to write and Breck Eisner (Sahara) will be replacing Brad Anderson in the director's chair for Rogue Pictures' remake of George A. Romero's The Crazies, according to Variety. Production is set to begin as soon as a SAG deal is made. "The Crazies" will update the storyline of the original, in which inhabitants of a small Pennsylvania town are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. Original was released in 1972.

I love The Crazies and don't want it remade, but I suppose if they do it right it could be cool to see an update. What's the point in fighting the remakes anymore? Although the "Day" remake is a nice argument why some movies shouldn't be remade and why some directors and writers shouldn't be allowed to work again.

Ray Wright? The guy who wrote Case 39? If it's as bad as BD is saying....then ugh oh.

i wonder how we'll look back at this period in film making twenty years down the road.. i hope that things will right themselves by then...but this might be as good as it gets from here on out.. in twenty years they'll probably have already remade the remakes they're zealously pumping out now how about a remake of Bruiser! if not that we can take a script and turn it into a unrelated direct to video sequel by slightly tweaking it.. the industry is in shambles.. we can't fight it and they won't fix it... remakes are good business for them... not only does it make their jobs easier as far as coming up with a flick but they've got the original movies legacy as built in advertising.. as long as people sell the rights to great movies we will get weak updated versions of our favorite movies

I'm not one to bash remakes. It doesn't ruin the original so I'll give it a fair chance, but why do I have this feeling everyone will say 28 Days Later rip off? That's why this is pointless. On the IMDb board for the movie some people are already bashing it for that ignorant to the fact it's a remake of a movie that came before 28 Days, but most people will sadly not realize that.
