Rob Zombie to Conquer an Empire?!
Thursday, February 7, 2008

Are you guys ready for this?! This afternoon we have confirmed 100% that Rob Zombie has been taking meetings with Lionsgate and Nu Image to get behind the director's chair for their upcoming Conan film! In my humble opinion I think this is fantastic news as I'd love to see Zombie depart from direct horror for a bit and show us what he can do outside of the genre. The first film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, really could use a companion piece and I think adding a darker element to the mix could be pretty awesome. We'll let you know if anything becomes signed, but your feedback could help make this happen.

That douchebag just can't stop feeding the rumor mill, can he? He says he's doing something different every 5 minutes. I highly doubt this one will happen (with him, anyway) either. Throw this in the pile of bullshit with the CHUD remake, WEREWOLF WOMEN, and his western.

I think Zombie would be perfect for CONAN! I'll be there!

Well rape will be easy enough, but how can Rob work hillbilly white trash into the age of Conan??? I'm guessing this won't happen once he realizes this.

I don't even know what to think of this. I'm not a hater but I can see why there are so many of them. I too think Rob should step outside of the horror genre but with his own ideas. Not something that has already had success! I really think if he teams up with an established writer that he could pull off a really good movie. Regardless what anyone says about his previous works. With each film he has shown vast improvement with his directing capabilities. With that said I feel if he does write this on his own...the chances of it being good will be slim. I do agree with most people that his writing skills are mediocre. Three movies with pretty much the same characters is no work of a good writer.

"really could use a companion piece" WTF? Has everyone forgotten about Conan The Destroyer?

Hey, Rob is indeed successful with his directing. And Hell, why not delve into a (for lack of a better term) franchise that deserves some some love? It will be just fine and those who already crap on it before seeing it have their minds made up regardless.

I talked with a makeup artist who's friends with Robs brother and told me about this a while ago. He also said that Zombie wants Tyler Mane to star as Conan. Anyways though I think he needs to make his own dam movies and stop remaking great films.

This will be interesting to see what he does with this if he ends up doing it. But unfortunately it will be scrutinized big time just because it's Rob Zombie, and people seem to get really bitchy and pissy when it comes to him. I'm a big fan and loved the original. So I hope this happens.

And in response to mfcmk, he's only done one remake out of the three released films and one unreleased films he's done. So don't get dramatic about him only doing remakes. Ok? Ok.

Why do you all call it a remake? Do you forget that Conan was around for 50 years before the 80's film? Though they were great movies they were a terrible representation of Robert E. Howard's character. If they do make a new one, I hope it is MUCH truer to the original stories. Rob... I've seen two of his films, House of 1000 corpses I liked, Halloween was horrible.

This movie will suck...I can just picture it now...Bill Moseley will be Conan...and instead of punching a camel, like Schwarzenegger's Conan was NOTORIOUS for, he'll punch Sheri Moon in her Camel toe twat. I'll bet Sid Haig will play like some sort of a cussing magician who fucks up moseley's shit...

It's a great idea pairing Zombie/Conan. Zack Snyder/ Frank Miller would be another choice. A Conan series done right could eclipse the whole LOTR trilogy.Count me in for ZombieConan!!!

"Taking meetings.....?????" I guess ROB's all up with the industry lingo these days. But can he direct folks????? Can he actually sit down and get it done. Halloween turned out to be a friggin Decudlian disaster in a franchise which magically incredibly to get worse AFTER Busta Rhymes. Seeing Zombie branch out of the horror genre is probably a good thing, but we're really gonna have to see if he improves on some of the amateur writing and elementary technical mistakes that are evidant in RZWeen. Conan in shaky cam? I can just imagine the possibilities now. The camel rapes Subatoi allowing Valeria to escape the rampant spousal beatings that Conan doles out daily if the spam ain't browned to perfection over in Eastbumf%ck. Somewhere John Milius is scared. Very scared.....

"but your feedback could help make this happen." What do we have to do to STOP this from happening? Zombie is probably the worst possible choice for this movie, I don't want him anywhere near it. Sex and violence are a part of Conan, but they aren't what it's about and zombie is way too immature to see that.

I really dig the Halloween remake. Corpses wasn't bad for a freshman effort, and Devil's Rejects was the shit.To have rob Zombie make a Conan movie is a great thing. Conan is blood, gore, sex, magic, and a rough childhood. Basically Halloween without the modern day setting. I want to see "Rob Zombie's Conan the Barbarian".

I think Rob should stick to horror. I would realy realy like to see another Devils Rejects come out. I know I know they were killed, which is what Sid Haig told me when I met him and Bill Mosley at Monster Mania this weekend. Bill seemed like he would do it but Sid said no more Devils Rejects. Its funny that he said that because all the stuff he is selling at Monster Mania, is related to the film The Devils Rejects. I never heard of eather one of these actors before The Devils Rejects. They realy need to put these three actors together again in another film
