We broke the news a few weeks back that Midnight Pictures is prepping to shoot their remake of The Last House on the Left for Rogue Pictures. Dennis Iliadis was attached to direct as casting has been underway for quite sometime now. Today four names were revealed for the film, which begins lensing March 24 start in South Africa - read on to see who. Also, get ready to laugh at the idea that the film is going to be more brutal than the original, only the daughter won't be raped or killed - and the last house on the left is on the lake... what?! I'm confused.
Busy character thesp Garret Dillahunt has joined the cast of Wes Craven's "Last House on the Left" redo for Rogue.
Dillahunt, who has memorable roles in "No Country for Old Men" and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," will play the thug Krug in the remake of Craven's 1972 original. Dennis Iliadis will direct.
Dillahunt joins a trio of other thesps -- Rhys Coiro (The Chaos Theory), Martha MacIsaac (Superbad) and Riki Lindhome (Pulse) -- in the project, which is gearing up for a March 24 start in South Africa.
Craven and Marianne Maddalena are producing under his Midnight Pictures shingle, along with Sean S. Cunningham, who produced the original. Adam Alleca rewrote the original to give it a more realistic tone.
Story revolves around a couple, on vacation at their lakeshore house, who inadvertently gives shelter to the sociopaths who have just assaulted and nearly killed their daughter. After discovering the truth, they exact revenge on the attackers.
Dillahunt, who has had recurring roles on a number of skeins, including "Damages" and "Deadwood," will next appear on the bigscreen in Paul Schneider's "Pretty Bird." Coiro, best known as crazy director Billy Walsh in "Entouage," stars in upcoming "The Chaos Theory." Lindhome has several projects on the way, including "Powder Blue" and "The Changeling."
How can they not kill the daughter? surely thats a main plot point that might just screw it up a bit. I swear to god if she runs into the house shouting "mommy mommy they hurted me" i will laugh my ass off.
And if you think us horror fans who put comments on here are being harsh about this remake, just wait until the movie critics get a hold of this sure-to-be piece of crap film. I'm sure the kids today will love it, too bad they are not old enough to get into theaters to see it. "More brutal than the original"? Yeah right! The original movie was banned in several countries.
This could be a good movie as long as someone's penis get gnawled off like in the origninal. Plus they have to kill both girls,it's a must. Also, i seriously hope that they don't include the police officers hiking to the house in the back of a chicken truck, that was just dumb and stupid.
Mr. Disgusting is wrong. I read the casting breakdown. Mari still gets raped and shot in the remake but she lives to ID her attackers. It looks like the other girl still dies...This might not be too bad. I'll give it a chance because Wes Craven is still involved..
Anyone have any info on the upcoming rape/revenge flick "Run Bitch Run"? Its got the kid who played Micheal Meyers in it as well as Christina Derosa. It may be cooler than Last House..
