Lena Headey has some well-deserved momentum going on, especially after the success of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox and the debut of the Sundance horror movie The Broken. Today it was announced that she'll join the awesome Sean Bean and Rupert Friend in a supernatural chiller entitled Black Death. Read on for the skinny.

Lena Headey, Sean Bean and Rupert Friend have signed up to star in director Geoff Sax's supernatural chiller "Black Death" from production banner Ecosse Films.

Set in an apocalyptic medieval world, "Death" details the story of a band of brothers whose quest is to hunt down a necromancer against the backdrop of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England.

Headey stars on the Fox TV series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," while Bean is a familiar face from "The Lord of the Rings" and "National Treasure."

Friend recently wrapped "Young Victoria" alongside Emily Blunt.

Friend will play a young monk sent to investigate rumors of people being brought back to life, while Bean plays a mercenary priest who arrives in the same village. Against the backdrop of the peaceful village lies a pact with the forces of darkness, orchestrated by the village ruler (Headey).

The gothic horror will be produced by Ecosse Films co-chiefs Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae and co-produced by Jens Meurer ("Black Book") of Egoli Tossell. Penned by Dario Poloni, the project is scheduled to shoot on location in Germany and the U.K.

"Dario Poloni's highly original screenplay appealed to me as a fan of the genre," Sax said. "Coupled with its edgy characters, thought-provoking material and kinetic action scenes, it's a very exciting project to be directing."

Sales and financier HanWay Films will unveil the project to buyers at the European Film Market during the Berlin International Film Festival.

"Black Death" marks the fourth collaboration between Ecosse and HanWay, following "Becoming Jane," "Brideshead Revisited" and "Wuthering Heights."
