This afternoon we hopped on a phone call with Final Destination 4 producer Craig Perry to confirm a rumor we had been given. What exactly was the rumor? Well a tipster informed us on what exactly kick starts the latest installment, which will be shot entirely in high-def 3-D. Read on for the skinny and to see what disaster you'll be seeing on the big screen in the next year or so!
FINAL DESTINATION producer Craig Perry confirms that the opening disaster in New Line Cinema's HD 3-D sequel will in fact be during a high-speed race car crash where an object will fly into the stands killing (or just missing) some of the audience members!
In addition, he tells is that that the high-def 3-D technology they're using is the exact same system as the one James Cameron is using for AVATAR. He explains that they're going to be very careful about how they use the 3-D in the film. "Having something pop out at the audience every four minutes gets boring," he explains. He wants to use the 3-D to add depth and drama to the film, which if done like MONSTER HOUSE can really add to the experience of the film.
Watch for more info as it comes in. Casting is currently underway for a March shoot in New Orleans.
LOL thats so funny because I was telling my friends and family after I saw 3, I was like hey for number 4 they should so have it at race track and then there's this fucked up accident and it chops everybody's head off and it's super gory. now look my idea came true by some derange writers....Man maybe if I wish for money enough maybe I will get it... Also I was hopein they would set it on a cruise ship and the ship blew up sendign metal and shit into peoples faces and there skin will melt off and people will blow up. maybe they will use that idea too....
Mmmm yeah this is too similar to FD2's opening. They've done planes, cars, and rollercoasters, but they haven't done boats, and despite doing a subway scene at the end of FD3, I think they should still do like a trainwreck or something.
Cruise ship would be cool though, or maybe even a botched shuttle launch.
Also who says it has to deal with vehicles at all? There could be terrorist bombings, gang shootouts, a drug bust gone awry, anything involving mass death.

BOAT UNDER BRIGDE!!! BOAT NDER BRIDGE!!! it was meant to be a boat going under a bridge as it rised and the cars went into the water and stuff... race cars suck! damn! and number 3 was the best... this is like my fav franchise! how dare they fuck it up...
ya really since that new analog box is coming next feb. evertyhing goes digital. wonder if u can still play your reg. dvds or have to go out and buy a new machine for them to play.
i was kinda hoping for the cruise ship disaster but, after thinking about i'm really excited for this idea and whats gonna happen and what its gonna look like and stuff, hopefully we'll get the cruise ship disaster in Final Destination 5 =)

I would have also liked a subway accident but they sadly used that in FD3. Maybe a train wreck. This on the other hand sounds horrible
I like the boat on the bridge idea. Hey if a million of us out in 10 bucks each...
