We learned this morning that First Look has bumped back the home video release of An American Crime (review), which stars Academy Award nominee Ellen Page (Juno, Hard Candy). The film, which now arrives on August 19 as it is now running on Showtime, is based on a true story that gripped the nation in 1965, An American Crime recounts one of the most shocking crimes ever committed against a single victim. Click the title for poster, stills and a review.
Isnt the AMERICAN CRIME playing on Showtime actually the straight-to-DVD movie with Rachel Leigh Cook and Carey Elwes from 2004, not the new movie with Ellen Page and Catherine Keener?
Another movie came out called I believe the "Girl next door". Can't remember if that is the exact name of the movie. It's a book by Ketchum can't remember his first name. Suppose to be based on a true story but like always the movie is not exactly how the story goes. I was interested in knowing more about the crime if the people involved got jail time. Found the true version at crimelibrary.com
The movie was very slow and disappointed that it didn't stick with the true version.
You would think that with Ellen Page's success with Juno and that The Girl Next Door (which is based on the same story)doing well on DVD that somebody, somewhere who is involved with the final say of this movie being released would find time to grow some fucking balls and let us see this movie already. I noticed the sure-to-suck Prom Night remake hasn't been bumped 50 times.
