While Lionsgate has been promoting their upcoming release of The Eye, behind the scenes they've been working hard on prepping Saw V while Darren Lynn Bousman is putting the final touches on his dream project, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Today Bousman updated his blog with details on both projects slated for release later this year. In addition, inside you'll find a new piece of art from Repo! featuring star Bill Moseley.
From Darren Lynn Bousman's myspace Blog:
So everyone keep their fingers crossed - as REPO has now been sent, and now in hands of the producers. That's right - I have sent off the movie to be screened by the hollywoods EXEC'S. I guess I should be scared - as screening for 'suits' is always a nail biting experience - and even more so with a movie like this... But I feel good... no, not good - great - about this movie, and WHAT IT IS...
Yesterday I spent a large portion of the day at Deluxe doing color timing on a scene from REPO - basically setting 'a look'. I got chills! Joe White the DP did a fucking KILLER job - with his style and what Deluxe is doing - this movie will look like something DIRECTLY out of a fairy tale!
On a completely other note - I spoke to David Hackl yesterday... As most of you know David is directing SAW V... I have to be honest - it's a hard pill to swallow... Handing over the baton - - passing the torch - - call it what you will... But for the last three years SAW has been my life... Last week, they opened up the preproduction office for V. It feels strange not to be there... It feels even stranger knowing that those production offices are only two blocks from where I am now... But, I feel confident in the fact that the franchise is in great hands with David - and that it was time for me to move on...
If I have my way - I am only leaving one franchise to start another! Maybe this time next year as SAW VI is gearing up - I will working on REPO II... One can only dream...
How did Respect manage to get a copy of Saw IV? It doesn't come out till Tuesday. I just hope with Saw V they continue with the third and the fourth one.
