French Thriller 'Them' Finally Arriving This March
Sunday, January 6, 2008

One of the many French films that I've fallen is love with is Them (review #1, #2), which was directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud (The Eye). Today the film was announced for release on DVD for March 25 and we're proud to display our quote on the cover art found inside - the film is that damn good. DVD Active reports that the film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with a French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. English subtitles will also be provided. Extras will include a making of featurette, another featurette on composer Rene-Marc Bini, a Torture of Clementine featurette, and some trailers.

Why the fuck does that caption say "One of WILLIAM FRIDKIN's..." ??? He didn't have anything to do with it as far as I know... it definitely isn't one of his movies

William Friedkins** Sorry for the misspelling, but it's pretty stupid to throw his name out there as being one of his MUST SEE horror movies without him saying it himself

First off, i love the cover art. I live in Toronto, and we got this movie a while ago, i bought it in August. Ours has different dvd art. Anyways, don't be fooled...this movie is WAY OVERRATED! 6/10 for me. Sure it has a few pretty good scares and creepy scenes. But teh acting was horrid, the ending was complete trash...you get so tense waiting for the finale, and bam! One of the stupidest endings ever. The most terrifying movie of 07? are you kidding me? Nevermind, 07 was a horrible year, was HALLOWEEN the second scariest? Hopefully 08 will be better, i think i'll wait for THE STRANGERS, which is supposed to be a remake.

also hopefully this dvd is better, because if the quality is the smae, then it will suck...it's also HORRIBLY dubbed. and when they are speaking french there is NO subtitles. I just had a problem with the film...probaly because of all positive buzz it's getting and it certanly does not deserve it.

It says it was on William Friedkin's list of 13 Must-See Horror Movies that he did for Entertainment Weekly, so he did say it. He included Psycho, Alien, Rosemary's Baby, Diabolique, Onibaba, Suspiria, Deep Red, La Boucher (The Butcher), Funny Games, The Lodger, The Spiral Staircase, The Exas Chainsaw Massacre and Them. WILLIAM FRIEDKIN SAYS: ''If you'll notice, most of the films on my list are from many, many years ago. For the most part, I'm not interested in horror films that I see today. But Them is an exception. It's based on a true story, and similar to Funny Games, it's about some young people who go around a small vacation town and kidnap various visitors, take them to a house, torture them, and kill them. For the entire length of the picture, you have no idea who's doing this or why, and then the final scene kind of explains it. Those sequences of hunting, capturing, and torturing are really among the most brilliant that I've ever seen.''

Hey Hellbilly...thanks for the Friedkin quote about Them (Ils). It must not be the "Most brilliant" thing he's ever seen, since he got the plot wrong! I happen to think the film is really well done. Also the person up there concerned about dubbing. The tear sheet posted says the film is in French.
