Darren Lynn Bousman posted today the comic book panel from the original short film used to pitch Repo! The Genetic Opera (trailer), which will be released by Lionsgate sometime next year. You can check it out by reading on! In the not-so-distant future when an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet, scientists gear for a massive organ harvest. A biotech giant comes up with easy organ payment plans, but all financed organs are subject to legal default, including repossession at the hands of repo men.
Darren Lynn Bousman writes: "Okay, so many have been asking about the SHORT FILM - where the short can be downloaded? How can you see it? Trust me, nothing would make me happier than to post the short film... but - there are some legal issues regarding SAG contracts, etc that I have to look into before posting... What I can do is post how the short film opened... Repo is very much a COMIC BOOK type film... meaning bigger than life... since there are no actors in the comic book opening, I have attached it - it acted as a prologue - I wanted to set the world up to the producers... and YES, the comic book style animation will carry over to the feature as well, however, a much more stylized version than was in the short..."
