We've learned this evening that MGM has set a tentative release date for the Dowdle bros. The Poughkeepsie Tapes (review, trailer). MGM has yet to confirm a February 8 date for the film, which debuted at Tribeca this year, ultimately having to decide whether or not they'll have to push the release of Pathology slated for release the same day. An official announcement is expected next week, but I would think we'll be seeing Tapes sooner than later as MGM has already begun advertising the movie in banners across the web. Watch for more as soon as it comes in. Throughout the 1990s, a serial killer terrorized upstate New York. After a decade-long crime spree conducted largely under the radar of law enforcement, the killer left behind the most disturbing collection of evidence homicide detectives had ever seen hundreds of homemade videotapes that chronicle the stalking, abduction, murder, and disposal of his victims.
