WGA Strike Coming to an End After Four Weeks?

I know to most of you the strike means nothing, but behind the scenes it's a devastating event that could really cripple Hollywood in the long run. Word had it that the strike could run all the way through April, which would cause numerous productions to halt or be completely destroyed, thank God it might already be over. According to Deadline Hollywood a very reliable source tells them that there appears to be a deal seemingly in place between both sides. Click the link to read all about it and cross your fingers that everything gets cleared up by Christmas.

"I know to most of you the strike means nothing" ... You're right. How's this horror news?

This means there might not be any new horror movies going into production soon if the strike lasts. That's how it's horror news.

Damn strike has already delayed the new season of 24!! The sooner it ends the better this way by March 24 can return

24 isn't returning this year. There's no enough time to shoot the entire season, and on top of that Fox has already announced a revised schedule and I highly doubt that they'll revise it again. Plus, I personally doubt there really is a deal in place already. I can't imagine that either side would come into these meetings today after three weeks of striking and fold so easily. Regardless of what happens, I just hope the writers, the true talent behind the TV shows and films we watch, get what they deserve! Zero cents makes zero sense!

you are wrong Hurmoth, 24 just got delayed. there is more than enough time to finish shooting the season, especially if the strike ends in a week or 2.

Maybe we won't have to suffer through Night at the Museum 2 after all...

Sorry South_park, but you have to think of this from Fox's point of view. They've already announced an alternate schedule. Only 8 episodes have been completed. It usually takes 4 days to write a script, 8 days to shoot it, and then another 2-4 for post production. That's 16 days per episode (give or take a day or so if everything works smoothly). There's 24 episodes in a season to make 24 hours, so they will need several months to complete 16 more episodes when the season starts in January and for it to end in May it has to start in January. Even if there was a deal made and the strike were to end tomorrow there's not enough time to complete an entire episode of filming now due to the upcoming holiday which crews take off for. I don't see 24 starting in 2008, at least not in the normal spring time frame. Fox may opt for a fall run, but then they'd have to take breaks or risk a lot of sliding ratings due to holidays in the fall and winter.
