Over at director David Twohy's official website he reveals that a third Pitch Black might be on the way (whoopee). Here's what he had to say, "All I can say now is “We’re talking about it.” The DVD numbers were really good – we know that, and some potential financiers know that. But if another movie surfaces, it probably won’t be a Universal movie and probably will be an independent movie. Which means we’ll have to make it for substantially less than the last installment. But that’s okay. PITCH BLACK was $22 million all in. Maybe it’s time to go back to our roots – as we go on to The UnderVerse." Do we really need more Riddick? I guess?
I am all for it, as long as they go back to the nitty gritty like the first....great....the 2nd was ok, but i thought it was trying to come off as a Conan in space type movie, and wasn't as thrilled as I was with the first.
horrorlover i agree with you about the conan feel of the second movie but thats what i liked about it. the chronicles of riddick is one of my favorite movies i would love to see a third one
Um, the next sequel if there is one isn't going to be PITCH BLACK 3. It would be Chronicles of Riddick 2. Vin Diesel described Pitch Black as "The Hobbit" of this storyline. Chronicles of Riddick was a first in a purposed trilogy. I don't mind another Riddick film though, and am glad they're gonna go the less budget route. That way the movie will be put together by decisions made from far greater challenges thus creating something new. Big budgets make some directors lazy and lean heavily on money. Don't just throw money at the screen and expect it to work. You have to put forth hard work and creative effort.
I think that pitch black 3 will be good but it should be how Riddick began before he became a hunted man.
