How about an airplane filled with passengers are on a flight during a dark and stormy night.
A crate with an item that is being held in the cargo hold is damaged when the turbulence slams the crate around.
The item in the box is a machine that can open portals to other dimensions.
The machine actually opens a portal,and the plane flies through it.The passengers see a bright glow coming from their windows,when they look out the window they see they seem to be flying over a lava landscape that stretches to an eternity.
The pilots try to pull up in time,but not enough time to do so successfully,and the plane hits part of a cliff.
The plane is ripped in half,the back half with the portal machine goes in one direction while the other half of the plane with the passengers go flying in the other.
The survivors think they have died and gone to hell.Some others refuse to believe that,because it doesn't make sense since they are christians.
As the passengers start to fight with each other someone gets the crowd's attention and tells them what has happened.
And this person tells them that if they want to get out of this place,then they need to go and find the portal machine.
On their journey through hell,Jason and Freddy see them and pursue them making their journey even tougher.
In the end you could have Jason and Freddy escaping hell when they go through a portal that the portal machine creates.
Either with the survivors who actually make it there,or all of the survivors die,and Jason and Freddy are the only ones who go through it.
