Get ready for the best Valentine's Day present a horror fan could ever receive... Bloody-Disgusting was informed that Paramount Pictures will release Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13th remake in theaters on February 13, 2009. I know it's a long haul, but that's about a year from the start of production. Watch for heavy coverage here on B-D in the coming year. Marcus Nispel is set to direct off a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Word has it the remake will be a modern telling of Jason Voorhees, who already rocks his infamous hockey mask.
If this makes some bank for Paramount then maybe they will finally get around to giving us some decent releases of the first 8. All with commentary and uncut would be nice.
I was satisfied with the boxset they released although I still thought it was shitty of them to shave off some of the intended features. Uncut would be nice though especially for part 7. That film had some kickass gore scenes like the black dude getting his head crushed down to a pancake. Whew, that was some good shit.
and you shouldnt say the best valentines day present.
cause first of all the MOVIE MIGHT SUCK LOL. AND SECOND OF ALL THE REALESE DATE MIGHT CHANGE DUH!
This is absolute shit man, all this during a writers strike? You all do realize that in the time period from now until that date, Paramount would of popped out two of these if this was the 80's?
And speaking of Paramount, it's good to see that they went crawling back to them, this must be because of the copy right issues a remake was apparently posing, I hope this is a license thing only and that New Line could still do Freddy/Jason stuff if they wanted to, not that it's going to happen.
Were looking at what, a 30 day shoot and prolly sometime this winter, I think its quite obvious there finally going with the Jason in the Winter/Snow theme, after all there releasing it in the dead set winter. For a vintange slasher film? Assholes
Jasonlives1986... Paramount didn't crawl back. They've always owned the rights to the "Friday the 13th" films. Why else do you think the NEW LINE Jason films were NOT ever linked with the title "Friday the 13th"?
No Paramount isn't crawling back. They're just agreeing with a very popular idea from a very popular director and producer Michael Bay and his prod. company Plantinum Dunes, and a very popular studio New Line Cinema.
Get the idea now?
pissing lasers said it all, let the bitching and crying begin. I for one can't wait for this, according to the producers, the film won't be campy, that's the best news i could ask for, a SERIOUS Jason and friday the 13th, not bad at all!
this isn't really even going to be a remake anymore. its more like a movie between parts 3 and 4. wich is fine with me. I think they need to get him back in the camp where he belongs. out of new york, out of outerspace and back into the camp.
mr_voorhees, you are a douche bag. Part four pics up right where part three left off. How the hell are they going to do a prequel to that? Oh, let me guess; they're going to have a camera on Jason lying on the floor of the barn for two hours? That sounds like fun. Why are you commenting if you have no clue what your talking about?
