Exciting news for those of you who are fans of Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema's Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, B-D was the first to report that director Marcus Nispel will also be reviving Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th remake from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift! The remake will focus on Jason Voorhees -- who will wear the infamous mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake. This news is pretty huge as the film will in fact be filming during the strike. Watch for the masked one to return in 2008!
Dude is not the best director in the world.....but lets face it, if your a Friday the 13th fan all you really need to see is Jason slice and dice a few people to make you happy.
BUT I will say this guy does have a good sense of visual style so I can imagine how this one might turn out.
EWWW I fucking hate this director... I thought Johnathan Liebesman was helming this?! Pathfinder was soo unbearable to sit through, Im not seeing this if he's gunna do it.
Nispel I don't mind. The TCM remake is quite good in my mind. And Pathfinder wasn't that bad...well, as bad as everyone said it was. Stoked to see this.

When i was thinking about how could direct the remake and make it good and fresh and atmospheric i only thought about Marcus Nispel(i was very pleased with what he did did to the TCM remake) but i thought "no way he´d be intrested or asked to make another Platinum remake to a slasher classic". I´m very pleased with the news!
There are in fact, remakes that don't suck. Yes! I know! It's shocking. People, atleast wait until you see some stills before you start bitching to high heaven. "Don't touch the classic" "Fucking remakes" Like a bunch of little children. Nobody is ASKING you to see the remake. And even if the remake sucks you still have the original. I for one am looking forward to seeing what they do with Jason. Because imo it wasn't a classic till he put on the mask. But, eh that's just me. All I'm saying is, they seem to have a guy who WILL deliver in some way or another. Just relax, wait till you see some stills before you get all nuts
i mean im going to see this.. but come on! no pamela? she was better than jason in my opinion. creepy old bitch seeking revenge after going insane over the death of her son... or jason who grows into a huge undead psycho even though he died as a little boy...this should be interesting.
So in essence, this is a remake of Friday the 13th part 3 then? The Jason EVERYONE knows didn't don the hockey mask till halfway through the 3rd movie. And the original Firday the 13th didn't even have Jason in it (except as a child in a "dream" at the end). Do these people who remake classic horror films even see the originals? Or do they just through a dart at a board and pick what they think woulod make money? Hollywood asses....

And do you people really think that nobody knows who the killer is in the original Friday? Do you ALSO realize that Jason is an ICON and they KNOW they will make more money if they do a new movie with Jason rather than a straight remake.

i agree with kabukiman on most of what he said ( not the kane bashing ) but who would actually pay to see the remake if it only had pam voorhees? not me, most people besides us fan didnt even know jason wore a potato sack on his head in part two so if you dont have the man wearing a hockey mask and killing people with a machette then no ones gonna see it
I think Pamela's story needs to be shown, although just a few minutes of it. Have the counselors sitting around telling the story or something. Pamela is the reason Jason became a killer, so she needs to get her screen time too, imo.
I hope they cast unknown actors (and not effing models). The F13s were all made with unknowns so to bring in name talent, if it's it's B list, would be a bad choice, imo.
Also, make Jason human and scary again. Jason in 2-4 was much scarier than zombie Jason in 6-X. He ran, he grunted, he chased, he was a nasty, scary mofo. Zombie Jason was cool but not at all scary.

Newsflash guys, putting Jason in for the remake is not all that different either. This remake is just gonna end up looking like all of the other countless sequels.

No sorry, The TCM remake was crap. I was soo excited for it and when I finally went to it, It was completely ruined by the stupid decisions made by the stupid characters. The only parts worthwhile were all the ass shots of Biel. And Pathfinder was crap.. fucking horrendous to sit through, Ive never seen a movie take such a great idea and do absolutely nothing with it
Why are so many ppl making reamkes? Some of them don't even stick to the real thing almost like the halloween remake........i don't particulary care for the remakes i stick to the originals.
I don't really mind remakes as long as they don't fuck up the Original premise. Nispel did that in TCM By Cutting off Leatherfaces arm. WhatA Fool. I Hope the guy that played leatherface will play jason. Andrew Bynarski. That Guy Is Fucking Huge. He's Perfect.
that would be cool if he V does play it but kane hodder did majority of the jason films (i think except for i know not the first one bc it was mrs. vorhees......they should bring back mrs. vorhees (cant think of her real name i think betsy palmer or andrea barbeau sorry if butchered her last name). even if it is for a cameo......sigh.....lame brain Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.....guess anything to make a buck.
man i think jasons mom should be the killer at least on the beggining few minutes of the movie and then since they are going to butcher the movie anyway have her call upon jason to avenge her death to leave her out of the whole thing is fucking ignorant hollywood can blow me for not coming up with a new slasher to take over anyway.....the only positive on this is "at least jason isnt lost in space" lol
I hope this remake is good and better than the crappy friday part 1. Well I guess it helps with Jason the killer instead of his mom. I hope this movie will improve my liking of Jason movies because the only one I like is freddy vs Jason.
I wish they were just doing a new Jason flick, as a real follow-up to either Jason Goes to Hell, or FvJ if that counts.
Though I did like what Rob Zombie did with Halloween, I dunno 'bout this one.
Since it has Jason, though, that's pretty much all the motivation I need to see this.
this movie is not going to be a remake. it was supposed to be but people want to see the mask. the mask didn't come in untill part 3. not only that but the charicters are totally difrent than any other friday. its going to be a movie that takes place sometime inbetween parts 4 and 6. of course in the end its going to be the same as all the other slasher movies out there. they're going to have sex and the guy goes to get a drink and gets killed on the way back to the bedroom. then the girl's going to say 'stop messing around' then she gets killed. oh, and ill bet a cat is going to jump out of a closet some time during the movie. mark my words.
