Forget that stupid, half-working fan site that's always dissing us for covering this remake, but I assure you all that THIS REMAKE WILL HAPPEN no matter what some moron writes on his blog. Today we learned that Mandate Pictures, which is now owned by Lionsgate, is officially attempting to acquire the remake rights to Steven Spielberg's Poltergeist. After checking in with multiple sources we learned that the deal is yet to be completed and if Mandate does in fact receive the rights, it does not mean that it will be released via Lionsgate. Watch for any updates as we'll keep you posted. In Tobe Hooper's film a young family are visited by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, then they turn nasty and start to terrorise the family before they "kidnap" the youngest daughter.
I wonder if the so-called 'Poltergeist curse' will follow the remake as well...If it does, I know I will be staying as far away from that set as I can.
I think the original is perfect and doesn't need to be remade. But if it's done right and they don't fuck with the formula too much it COULD turn out good. But who knows..
*sigh* I know sooner than later one day I will come to this site and see "Nightmare on Elm Street REMAKE"
Goddammit I'm gonna have to write a horror movie now.
It's so sad how all of these great classic horror films are being remade into shit so that the studios can make a ton of money. They say "Hey, let's steal the title from a great classic horror film, remake it and then rake in the dough!" Leave great horror films alone!!!!!
Whats with all of this Steven Spielberg's Poltergeist talk. Last time I checked it was Tobe Hooper that directed it. Also, it should not be remade as all of the other remakes should not of happened!
Bloody, why are you so adamant & supportive of every useless remake? I don't know what blog you read but dude, do you really think its necessary? I just watched Poltergeist recently, and it's fine - no need for this - Give me One good reason why this HAS to be remade? - Because you said IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN - Horror Movie remakes are like the new disco music - something we'll be ashamed of in someday.
"Forget that stupid, half-working fan site that's always dissing us for covering this remake, but I assure you all that THIS REMAKE WILL HAPPEN no matter what some moron writes on his blog."
That place is still up? I figured it would have dried up and blown away a long time ago.
So, Mandate is pursuing the rights to it. How, and in what word does that euqate to "THIS REMAKE WILL HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT"?
