Jim Caviezel (Outlander) and Claudia Karvan (Daybreakers) will star in the suspense thriller Long Weekend for Arclight Films, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Jamie Blanks (Storm Warning) will direct from a script by Everett de Roche. Based on the 1978 Australian thriller of the same name, the story concerns a young couple on a camping trip who callously disregard the local environment, firing guns and wounding wildlife, until the wildlife starts to hit back. The 1978 version starred John Hargreaves and Briony Behets and was directed by Colin Eggleston. "The original film was a great example of a classic chiller and was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike," Arclight head Gary Hamilton said. "We think the time is right to make this new film and that it will have a huge appeal to audiences worldwide." Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Australia in mid-November.
