We're here live at the Spike TV Scream Awards where we just talked to writer Roger Avery on the black carpet. Avery tells Bloody-Disgusting that the only way he'll write Silent Hill 2 is if director Christophe Gans returns, which he is pretty sure he won't. He also breaks the news that Sony plans on turning Silent Hill into a trilogy! Watch for more in our red carpet videos next week.
Avery was the problem with the first movie, his screenplay was fucking horrendous. I'm sad to see that Gans won't be returning but if it means there's a chance of a capable writer doing 2 & 3 I'm all for it.
The only way to possibly save the second movie is to make it to the second game. We all know the second game was the best. The first movie wasnt terribly bad...till the ending god the ending was just dumb they ruined it if they are planning to do it to the games.
I LIKED SILENT HILL BUT THE ENDING WASN'T GOOD EVRYONE KNOWS IT'S POSSIBLE TO RETURN TO THE NORMAL WORLD AND THEY SHOULD HAVE THE ENDING DIDN'T MAKE SENSE.
hmmmm i guess i liked silent hill is was pretty good.
nice violence/monsters/gore but didnt have scares! and silent hill 2 better have more monsters in it. part 1 didnt have enuff.
Well, over all I think movie was kind of bad but Pyramid Head! HE ROCKED!!!!
ps.
Silent Hill 1 was the creepiest game I have ever played and I'm 21 right now and still think so to date
To date I say that Silent Hill is the best adaption from video game to movie ever and I say why not give them a chance to make an even better second film. It's not like we all haven't sat through horrific (as in bad, not frightening) game movies, so we wont be that disappointed or surprised if it sucked. I could easily see the second film being a sequel to the first film where the main character (Sean Bean) searches for his wife after receiving a letter from her even though she is supposedly dead (i.e. Silent Hill 2). Then pull a Silent Hill 1 Good + ending where he comes out of the final confrontation at the end of the film with an infant child in his arms which leads straight into the third movie and third games story. Maybe I'm crazy but I would love to see the movies follow the games even more closely.
I thought the first movie worked very well, because it at least stuck to the spirit of the games, and didn't just try to overrun the screen with monsters and gore. (Apparently, even the people who make the games loved the first movie, from what I've read.) So long as they keep it true to the series, I'll be there opening night. Unfortunatly, we've heard no news on "Silent Hill 2" since only god knows when, so it looks like it may be a while before we get it. I would love to see a straight-up adaptation of the second game, or even (don't get too angry), the fourth game, because even though it wasn't up to par, the idea of a sort of "Silent Hill mystery" where 50% of the madness takes place in one room is interesting and could work for a film, if handled very carefully and properly.
