A press release went out to the Hollywood Reporter this evening confirming our exclusive news (here) that both Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside) will write and direct a remake of Hellraiser for Dimension Films. The filmmakers said they had the blessing of Barker to reappropriate his story and also had a playful message to any horror fans that were ready to trash the idea of a remake, "No tears, please; it's a waste of good remaking!" No tears here, Bloody-Disgusting is all over this beast. Dimension Films, hands off... let the men do their thing!
i can't wait for this remake, i love the book but the movie just feels kinda stale. hopefully this does justice to the written word because the original, even though it was written and directed by barker himself, just didn't work for me. parts of it were awesome but as a whole, not so much.
Considering the degree of intensity and general sickness that has been French horror of late, this is exciting!
