Post-production has been completed on SCOURGE, and a terrifying new addition to the pantheon of classic creature features is on its way to the AFM looking for distribution.
And what a ravenous little hell-spawned entity this is. It bores into it’s victims through the navel. As it gestates, the Scourge consumes internal organs and assumes control of gross motor functions, driving the afflicted person to consume massive amounts of calories. Eventually, the victim can no longer sustain life, and dies in a gory shower of vomited blood and tissue.
The film stars Nic Rhind (Fashion: The Movie) and Robyn Ledoux as Scott and Jesse, estranged lovers threatened by a cunning and voracious parasite. Russ Ferrier (Dark Water, Dangerous Intentions) plays Sheriff Durst, Jesse’s over-protective uncle who’s trying to keeping them apart.
When an ancient evil escapes from a primitive containment system, a rapidly-growing organism immediately begins invading and consuming the bodies of unsuspecting citizens of Harborford, Washington. One of those bodies is Scott’s soon-to-be ex, Lydia (Marina Pasqua), whose horrific death quickly puts Scott in Sheriff Durst’s investigational crosshairs.
The Scourge is a ferocious enemy, and if Scott and Jesse can’t figure out what it is in time to stop it, they’ll wind up as part of the body count.
The fact that Scott’s in the middle of the delicate process of reconnecting with Durst’s favorite niece does nothing to endear him to the sheriff, but it radically complicates Jesse’s ability to trust that he’s really turned over a new leaf.
PHD Productions shot the film entirely on location in and around the small town of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Andrew Bronstein produced. Jonas Quastel (Sasquatch, Ripper II) was the writer and director.
