The Hollywood Reporter confirmed two previous reports over the past few days, the first being that Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Freddy vs Jason) are set to write the remake of Friday the 13th for Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema. The remake will focus on Jason Voorhees -- who will wear the mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake. In addition, Sam Bayer is in final talks to direct Near Dark, the remake of the cult vampire movie Platinum Dunes is producing for Rogue Pictures. Oh yay!! The same guys that ruined what could have been a great movie in Freddy Vs. Jason are going to ruin a revamp of Friday the 13th!! Will this have the same type of scenes where Jason is chasing someone while a mainstream hard rock song blasting in the background? TERRIBLE. Please, don't make this movie.
Well, I for one am happy about this. I have every movie with Jason Vorhees in it. I didn't read much into the FvJ scirpt and dialog because I saw what I wanted to see in the end: a fight between Freddy and Jason. The only thing surrounding that idea that has been ruined for me is the lack of a sequel (whether is be with Leatherface, Ash, or Michael).
Oh, and if you asked me, the fight scene after Freddy is brought out of dreamworld is set to awesome music.
i didnt hate fvj, it was fun, the music sucked. but it was freddy and jason. why the hell are they calling this a remake if jason is going to have the mask and be the killer????? he didnt even get the hockey mask until part 3. this is stupid. just make another sequel.
You people are all idiots. First, the writers WRITE IT. They don't decide anything else, if you think FVJ sucked, then they're aren't the only cause. Secondly, you ALWAYS HAVE THE ORIGINAL. This remake will by NO MEANS ruin anything. Stop whining like a bitch, it isn't going to erase the original's from history with it's existence. I say bring on a remake. See how it goes. If it's bad, I always have the original series to watch...
yeah but think about it 30 years down the road. our children will think that halloween was directed by rob zombie and look at you with shire confusion when you bring up the god that is john carpenter and if thats a world that these remakes are setting up, thren i dont wanna live in it!, plus we need orginal ideas genius so there can be new classics when that 30 oe 20 or even 10 years hits (scream anyone?)
im not worried about it ruining the original at all. i just think remakes as a whole are stupid. ive enjoyed some and really liked a select few, but why remake it? its not neccesary, just do a sequel that will be fun to watch. that would be my idea.
Hmmm...i guess i'd rather get this than "Freddy vs jason vs ash vs leatherface vs michael vs pinhead vs ron jeremy vs tom cruise vs capt spalding"....though seeing his retarded inbred as* getting his sh*t handed to him by tom cruise would rock....lol
