David Cronenberg has been under attack as of late as most of his classic (and disturbing) horror films are on the remake block. Today it was revealed that Spyglass Entertainment has acquired the rights to remake Cronenberg's uber-creepy horror classic The Brood, according to Variety. Cory Goodman has been tapped to pen the screenplay. Based on a pitch by Goodman, the psychological/supernatural thriller centers on a woman who undergoes medical treatment that causes her inner rage to physically manifest itself. Creepy monster babies to follow? Let's hope this doesn't end up over at Screen Gems. Read on for a heartwarming still from the original, which is one of Mr. D's fav horror films. A remake of Cronenberg's 1981 film Scanners is also in development, with Darren Lynn Bousman attached to direct for Dimension Films.
