Exploitation Appreciation Thread

I've been an Exploitation Films lover for a long time always trying to soak up all the films up like a sponge.

For those who don't know what Exploitation is, it's basically an genre that exploits something. Example:Sexploitation exploits sex or Spagetti western is made in Italy hint exploitation that. Personally, one of my favorite genres because of it's wide range of goodies.

Recommend some films, write mini reviews or just talk about Exploitation Films.

I have a weakness for the named naziexploitation, polemical genre as they come. Which originated in the heyday of Italian experimental cinema, where the directors did not have any kind of censorship. But that the only obstacle that was retained low budget.

Films like Love Camp 7 and Ilsa, are essential for me.

Rolling Thunder (1977)


Starring William Devane as a Vietnam vet who returns home after escaping a POW camp discovers that his wife is now remarried and his life is forever changed after a group of thugs cut off his right hand with a garbage disposal. With help from his friend/sidekick, played by Tommy Lee Jones, they seek revenge.

I can thank Quentin Tarantino for helping me find this underground X-Po gem. You almost forget that this film is an exploitation film of how well it was made, hell it feels like hollywood movie done dirty. Screenplay by Paul Schrader, who from what I have read hated the movie with such a passion that he wanted his name off the film. 8/10

I love me some exploitation. Nunsploitation, lesbian vampire exploitation, women in prison flicks, rape/revenge flicks.. etc.. although i think this genre died in the 80s.

I really badly want to see this, looks awesome. You also reminded me of another Tarantino recommendation called "switchblade sisters" aka "the Jezebels" (1975). Looks like a fun exploitation but I couldn't find a DVD in the U.K.

I bought the Arrow edition of Savage Streets but it got lost in the post so I've not been able to watch it. Looks fun though.

House on the Edge of the Park and Night Train murders I really like as its gritty exploitation that has something to say. Death Weekend looks to be in similar vain so might check that out.

Think over Xmas I'll stock up on some exploitation, especially from Arrow as they put effort into these old gems.
