Default Starry Eyes

Starry Eyes tells the story of Sarah Walker, a determined and desperate actor who would do anything to land her first big role. Unfortunately, this leaves her prey to a satanic cult who has been operating as Hollywood’s gatekeepers since the Golden Age. They have the power to make her a star, but it comes at a terrible price. What follows is an occult tale of paranoia and possession that explores themes of transformation, body horror and a woman going through a psychotic breakdown.

Director/Writer
Kevin Kolsch
Dennis Widmyer

Starring
Alex Essoe
Amanda Fuller
Noah Segan

Release Date
March 8 2014

Right up Wonderlust's alley.

I'll be waiting for this, Faults, Among the Living, and Exists coming out of SXSW.

Saw it a while ago and was pleasantly surprised. It starts slow and drags on for a while, but once she gets into the shady hands of the cult, things begin to change for the better, crawling into territory of vicious gore and ugly, yet awesome body horror. Alex Essoe as Sarah is a feast for the eyes as well, I wouldn't be suprised if she makes the next step into bigger, more mainstream projects. This girl really can act and isn't afraid showing her hot body too. Always a plus in my book.

3/5

Wow just saw this. Very dark, brutal and twisted. It reminded me of the french classics, Inside, and Martyrs. Great atmosphere, and I liked how it slowly built to the great crescendo. Quite impressive overall, sort of like a hardcore version of The Black Swan. I am confused why this thread is so tiny for such a film when so much garbage gets so much attention.

This was not perfect but it was a real horror movie, not typical fluff.

9/10

Hit the nail on the head, this or Tusk are my favourite horrors of the year, when you compare them to the amount of attention The Babadook gets, its laughable really.

This movie was a mix of Mulholland Drive and Kill List, but not as good as either of them.

However, it was enjoyable and I think the main actress acted well in her role.

7/10. Solid flick, but I'd reserve a 9/10 for something more like 28 Days Later.

Acted well? That's a huge understatement. She knocked it out of the park with her dedicated performance. Plus, she is one hell of a good-looking bitch.

Saw this yesterday, and was quite impressed, and happy with this. If you liked Alyce Kills, you will like this !
