It's a childhood favourite of mine as well, but I've always considered it a horror comedy. Although, it gets pretty dark in the third act.

I haven't seen Critters, but I will rate Shaun of the Dead as a horror movie. Zombies ripping people to threads and eating them = horror.

'Critters' is always compared to 'Gremlins' and nobody doubts the former is a horror film. 'Shaun of the Dead' has zombies and in 'Gremlins' there is little monsters rampaging through a small town killing people.

If I haven't seen a film in ages and that passage of time has distorted my memory of it then I cannot do the movie justice with my score. Therefore, I will not pass judgement on it until I've seen it again and just leave it as a 0...
