Default Willow Creek (2013)

Quote:
Handsome young city lad Jim is a true believer — he’s convinced of the existence of the sasquatch, the elusive shambling man-beast nicknamed Bigfoot, said to haunt the wilds of the American West Coast. Jim’s girlfriend Kelly isn’t so sure. But she loves Jim and hey, joining him on his silly quest to craft a homemade documentary while seeking out the notorious creature, well, there could be worst ways to spend her downtime between bit-part acting gigs. The couple drives out to Trinity County, CA, on a pilgrimage to the site where the famous Patterson-Gimlin film clip, which purported to capture the mysterious monster in motion, was shot in 1967. Rolling into Willow Creek, they find a wonderland of Bigfoot-themed gimmickry and tourist traps, and chat with assorted locals. Some of the townsfolk are happy to share, while others are apprehensive. Their warnings become increasingly aggressive. The deep woods are no place for a couple of naïve city slickers — as Jim and Kelly are soon to find out!

Another entry in the Blair Witch found footage genre, but this time it's not about witches or devils, this time they are on the hunt of catching the almighty Bigfoot himself! The trailer looks like a cool synopsis of horror and humour. The director Bobcat Goldthwait was formerly entangled in the Police Academy franchise for instance and also responsible as of late for the awesome God Bless America.
That's him:

I never thought he would make cool movies at all.

I surely will check this out.

If you have ever visited this area (Willow Creek), you can see why "The Lost Coast Tapes," "Willow Creek" the comic book, and "Finding Bigfoot" all focus on it. It is one of the most beautiful, dense and creepiest places in America as far as forests go. Heck, I set my own "Nothing Men" nearby in the Trinity Alps for that very reason, and I tie Bigfoot into the story in the form of rumors (the story itself is not about Bigfoot, which has bothered some Bigfoot fans).

If Willow Creek the area doesn't scream "horror," no place does.

Sounds like the Norwegian movie Trolljegeren (The Troll Hunter), which is pretty good.

Firstly, that poster is amazing.

Secondly, I really really hope this will be a good film. I'm waiting very patiently for a bigfoot film that really wows me and i'm hoping this is it.

Anyone seen this yet? It came out on DVD in the U.K last month and for some reason it's trailer is featured on the main IMDB page.

And nobody has fucking leaked it yet?

I've been excited for this a long time now. Hate these indie movies that take forever to get released after making waves at festivals

It was....... pretty average. There were bits that were cool and bits that were woefully generic.

The scene in the tent was well done and had me feeling increasingly tense the longer it went on. Other than that the majority of the film is the same as any other found footage film you've seen. Angry locals? Check. Lost in the woods? Check. An abrupt ending with the hero dropping the camera? You bet!

At least the characters were likeable enough.

Spoiler Below
So what was up with that ending? I took it the girl on the missing poster near the beginning was in the forest at the end. She was kidnapped by bigfoots I guess? What they do with her I don't know......
