30FPS is a big turn off too.

It certainly isn't as pretty or flashy as it could be. In some respects its toned down from BC2. Still, it feels like most of BC2 was incorporated into this with much tightening and plenty of new things added. List most FPS games, it seems to be a step forward, but not a huge step.

SSX - Great game for fans of the franchise. It's basically everything you remember, with next-gen graphics. The single player stuff is an absolute joke, with no real incentive to complete. It's basically a tutorial. This game thrives online though, no matter what your skill level. They've filtered the leaderboards, to make anyone feel like they can compete at a certain level. Think "Starcraft 2", and how they set up matchmaking based on skill. There are different levels of competition, based on your skill. For instance, if you're not so good, you can always strive to top the "Bronze" leaderboards, while experts can look to top the "Diamond" level scores. It's a fresh approach, that other online games should adopt. I can't count how many games I've stopped playing online, because you're basically competing in a "pro gamer" circuit.

If you miss the good old Tony Hawk days, this game should make a nice substitute until the Hawk gets his shit back together.

As for Tony Hawk, have you seen this?

Supposedly coming this summer. Complete overhaul, remake with a new engine, not just an HD upgrade. Here's a comparioson picture.

Yeah, I've seen it. I'll be all over that. "Skate" kind of turned me off of Hawk, but I'm over it, and want to get back to good old ridiculousness. It's too bad the Hawk guys felt threatened, and tried to create their own "sim", that turned into the biggest joke of the industry.

You'll love the new SSX. The tracks are amazing. I'm probably over-exagerating here, but it seems like their are 30+ different paths to every track. I played it for a good three hours yesterday, and no run felt the same as the last.
