Here's a few more details on our themes for this year. We can't of course include every idea we came up with, but there's always a good chance anything not used this year will have a better chance of being on the poll next year.
Bad Blood - Bad Families: stories of extreme dysfuction, inbreds or dark history of ancestors affecting the lives of their ascendants. The Sins of the Fathers visted upon their sons i.e. The Fall of the House of Usher, something based on the inbreads of old world royalty, the families from any version The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, ergo the life of Ed Gein even, The Hills Have Eyes or even Friday the 13th for that matter. Below the Surface: Below the Surface": Albeit ground or water. It's easy enough to look around or watch the skies, but how much more hidden and unprepared can we be against what we don't even know is there? Movies such as Jaws, Tremors, Blood Beach, Them!, The Mole People, Journey to the Center of the Earth. Or even hollow Earth settings. Just what all lurks below? Hunter And Hunted: A game of cat and mouse, who's after who and who's even the good guy? Cop and serial killer, Helsing and Dracula, Ripley and an Alien, Dutch and a Predator. Over The Top: Ridiculous events and massive amounts of blood, guts, and gore. Such movies as Brain Dead/Dead Alive, Terror Vision, Troma Flims, Street Trash, etc... Maybe even The Thing if we embellish a bit. Slasher: Serial Killers, supernatual like Freddy or Jason, or more human. Are their motives the key to their works, maybe the have a message like in Se7en, or are simply territorial. Things that should not be: stories inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. Leaving behind more traditional monsters, using either existing creatures/gods from the mythos or using ones of your own invention that have that distinctive "feel". Stories should be tales of madness and despair, witnessing things so alien and perverse in their existence that it threatens sanity. Capturing the essence and spirit of the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. No rules against making a more humorous attempt at satirizing the sub-genre. If any of the above descriptions seem a bit lacking or you have questions, just say so and we'll iron things out. We'll be picking the top two from the poll above and anyone can chose either one to write on. Any themes not present or picked can still be worked in. I.E., even tho Spaceship/Space Station isn't even in the poll this year, any story can still take place there so long as it fits one of the themes we decide on. Think that's everything for now, I'll edit these posts as needed for clarity. Setting/Theme/Genre Bad Blood - Bad Families Things that should not be Participants: babagloom Erebus Dirge Hannibal Rex horror_movie_girl Jack the Pin Mogwai Mr. Monkey prettyscary Robcbh Willowfang

Be sure to actually post saying you want in so I can add you to the list. I've put prettyscary cause I'm 99% certain she wants in and more or less said so in the other thread. Many others I expect to say so too, but just want to keep things "proper" and have everyone post that they do want in.

Count me in. I'm sure I'll come up with something by the deadline, then not write, and be left holding my schlong when it's all said and done.
