I think the whole "origins" segment was probably the best well-done bits of the movie. It's very matter-of-fact and believable. Unlike, say, HALLOWEEN 6, where you have the idiotic Thorn baloney that feels like something out of a children's book. There wasn't much to the revelations but I think it all worked in a very low-key way.

I do, however, prefer my own thoughts on why they are what they are in Hooper's original: they're just batshit crazy. Not hungry, poor, unemployed and angry. Just batshit.

Hmph. It was entertaining enough, I suppose. The thing I hate about prequels is that you already know how they'll end. When it's bad, that takes some of the enjoyment out of it for me.

I was hoping they'd link it in with the remake, and the blonde that blows her head off. I would have liked it if she was a character in this one and ended up getting away...

But maybe that's just me.

That would have been a far better ending then the one they had in there. I've seen some pretty stupid victims in my time as a horror fan, but when you can't detect 300+ pound monster, with a chainsaw in the back seat of your car, you've officially crossed the line from stupid, to drooling retard. Then again, Leatherface seemed to have teleportation abilities during that scene, so what do I know. Fuck, that was a stupid movie.

Whenever it requires impossible/improbable scenes to make a movie "work", it's pretty bad. To require that for a closing scene? Inexcusable. Like that big fuck could have even fit, chainsaw and all, in the back of that car laying down. And how come the chainsaw started with such ease in that scene when it took a couple of rips damn near every scene prior to that?

I might be giving this movie too much credit, considering how much I hated the first remake.... but I don't think him getting to the car first and into the back seat was all that unbelievable. He simply outsmarted the chick. It just goes to prove what hoyt said earlier "he isn't retarded". I actually thought it was extremely well done... taking a classic horror cliche like that, and having me not see it coming at all takes skill. As for the chainsaw starting so quickly... yeah, thats a little suspect. But overall, I thought the ending was great.
