Now that John Luessenhop is nearly attached to direct Leatherface 3D, casting is currently underway for a June shoot in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Casting under Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D, I'm pretty sure that Lionsgate does NOT own the rights to use that name, therefore we'll be sticking with the Leatherface 3D moniker, as it was announced.

Penned by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco, with the most recent drafts by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop, the seventh incarnation is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS? -As explained to me by an insider.

It should also be noted that whomever lands the lead role of "Heather" will be locked in for multiple sequels, along with the town's "Sheriff Hooper," and his trusty sidekicks "Fransworth" and "Deputy Carl Hartman."

I'm really not too sure about this... the plot sounds kind of dumb.

Also, it sucks Lionsgate doesn't own the rights to use "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". If a company owns the right to a horror icon, they need to get the right to use the name of the films the character is from. It's like when New Line had the rights of Jason, but couldn't use "Friday the 13th". No one wants to see "Freddy 10", they want to see A Nightmare On Elm Street 10: Enter Subtitle Here.

I'm not sure about this idea either. It sounds fairly original but also slightly ridiculous. Maybe the change in direction for the story will do the franchise good though. We'll see...

Perhaps if it's done in an over the top, balls-to-the-wall, comic book kind of way... Like Planet Terror... Then it might be good. I really enjoyed all the TCM comics and wouldn't be opposed to that sort of style being used within the films.

The storyline is ... different. Not sure what to think about it right now. Almost sounds like a comedy really.

Same here. Enjoyed "The Beginning" very much, I hope the new one will be even better. Hard to tell which film of the "franchise" is my fav. Probably the first one...

Also, Sheriff Hooper? Might as well have named him Sheriff Tobe Hooper As In The Guy That Directed The First The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Movie. Same effect.
