I know the feeling, I just saw Blade Runner for the first time in 25 years, all I remembered was the FEEL of the movie... it definitely holds up. Btw 25 years ago I was so young I honestly can't even say I ever saw the movie.

"Interview With The Vampire".....An absolutely thrilling movie with some incredible performances, great screenplay, awesome dialogue, sensational cinematography and art direction, and solid directing by Neil Jordon. The music score and costume design are also terrific. Tom Cruise is fantastic as "Lestat". He managed to bring out all kinds of feelings for his character. Brad Pitt is great as "Louis", portraying the more sensitive/tortured man/vampire. 12 year old Kirsten Dunst(Claudia) is wonderful and was able to hold her own against her co-stars, and often stole the scene (particularly the incident in which Claudia tries to cut her hair and subsequently Lestat discovers the corpse in her bed, and then the confrontation between Claudia and Lestat) from them at times. With various critics noms/wins and a GG nomination, Dunst was close to garnering an Oscar nom for Supporting Actress. Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and Stephen Rea were all fine in supporting turns. Just wish there was more of a fight with Louis and Santiago, since Rea's character was an instant threat to Pitt's character. Thrills, shocks, drama, passion, and seductive performances bring this movie to life. A great watch!!

10/10

i very much liked the lush, hammeresqueness of this movie, but ultimately, i thought tom cruise (who gave it his best shot) and brad pitt both lacked gravitas, and were too pretty for their roles. frankly, if they had gotten it on, at least that would have been interesting. kirstin dunst, however, was a brilliant revelation, capturing to perfection what being an adult in a child's body would be like; she completely blew away her co-stars. it's also a shame that river phoenix was unable to play the interviewer, as the christian slater schtick just wasn't up to par. for me, this was an uneven flick that failed to live up to the book, and didn't quite live-up to it's potential.

expected criticism. of course the book would be better. but the film adaptation is great. of course there has to be changes and whatnot. no film ever lives up 100% to the book. as for cruise and pitt being "too pretty". well thats what made them seductive and hot. they also delivered solid performances, especially cruise.

i suppose i walked right into that one. let me rephrase: i didn't think this movie was soft and unfulfilling because it wasn't as good as the book (and i'm no anne rice fiend anyhoo), but rather because neither pitt nor (especially) cruise were very convincing to me in their roles. yeah they looked nice--which would have made it cool if they'd at least made out--but i wasn't impressed with the depth of their performances. i didn't believe either were very old, and i certainly didn't find cruise to be a very compelling vampire (tho, like i said, i think he did as well as he was capable of). kirsten dunst out-acted both of them by miles.

that's all i meant

I hear ya, and each to their own. As for Dunst, she is great in here isn't she? I absolutely love it when Claudia confronts Lestat about making her into a vampire and about the body in her bed. Her face expression when she hisses "You get rid of it" and slams the scissors down is superb!! Makes me cheer!!

Stunning film ... really fantastic. The story is beautiful and terrifying, enthralling and captivating, but above all seductive, the characters are the best in the film, and the way they move, that parsimony loaded to the brim with elegance, subtlety of their movements.

This one looks great but always puts me to sleep. It needed more testosterone and less theatrics. A certain chick flick.
