![]() I know there are already a couple of fans where of some of the members of OF, so I figure we might as well make a thread to share some info. If you're not familiar, it's hip hop that sometimes sounds very dark, but the lyrics are usually entertaining, actually pretty well written. I am not a huge fan of the whole crew, in fact the only ones I really like are Tyler, the Creator and Earl. Earl is without a doubt the best out of the whole crew. It's disappointing that he isn't making music at this point in time. He was literally on his way to being an excellent lyricist. There are some qualities I find to be a bit much, mainly the constant need to say fuck every other word. I can see why it pisses people off. They can come off immature, but really, they are still kids, so it's almost expected for them to have some immature content. In a couple years, Tyler is going to be even better. This song is ignorant is fuck, I love it... My favorite thing they've ever done has to be the Radical mixtape. Although, the new MellowHype song is awesome, so Numbers may replace that. |

I was a fan until I started following Tyler on Twitter. Jesus Christ that dude is a fucking bitch.
I really like Earl's album though, dude is talented as fuck. Wu Tang comparisons are unfounded and generally come from people who weren't there (alive) in '93. I'm old and jaded, I been a hardcore hip hop head since 1985. personally i'm more excited about the new G Rap album than some hipster kids who have a computer and a microphone. |

And hey, I mean no offense, I'm more than willing to discuss hip hop in a level headed fashion with anyone who's keen. I realise the worlds a different place than when i was a kid.

that's where the comparisons come from and I can agree with those. As far as lyrical content, they couldn't be any more different. |

I agree to an extent, and please i don't want a flame war with anyone...
I spent about 3 weeks with nothing but the odd future albums on my ipod about 4 months ago, and only Earl and Tyler stood out to me. I can't even tell the others apart Frank Ocean as well, that kid is on some other shit and probably the most talented of the lot but not hip hop. There have always been dudes turning hip hop on its head. I've talked with a lot of Euro/OZ/UK heads over the years and its shocking that so much good/progressive hip hop comes outta the US but gets ignored by their fellow countrymen. Dudes like Roc Marciano, Action Bronson make these Odd Future look like a joke. |
