What, no love for Cthulhu Mansion???
The two greatest "Lovecraftian" films are Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing, but from that list l have to go with The Haunted Palace. Vincent Price and the Necronomicon go hand-in-hand. Second for me would have to be The Resurrected, because Dan O'Bannon Rules! Re-animator and Dagon can battle it out for third place. lts a good list to choose from, and l'm ashamed to admit l haven't seen a few of those titles, namely The Shuttered Room and Curse of the Crimson Altar. |

Dagon takes it for me; probably the most accomplished and authentic looking and feeling of Gordon's many Lovecraft vehicles. Re-Animator and From Beyond are exceptional horror movies, for sure, but their silliness and comedic streaks keep them a peg behind Dagon, in which Gordon buckled down and kept it (mostly) serious. The result is, in my opinion, one of the top five best horror films of the last decade.
Dreams In The Which House was excellent as well, again showing a more serious minded adaptation of Lovecraft from Gordon, while ITMOM is probably the most frightening picture to ever feature a Lovecraftian edge. Both are essential.

I was actually just lurking on here looking for a thread about the unnamable and this popped up does anyone know if there is a thread for this movie on here? I just watched it for the first time in about a 15 years its a bit cheesy (you can even see the seems in the make up)but it will aways have a place in my heart!
It was my third favorite H.P. Lovecract film Re-Animator is number 1 But In the Mouth of Madness is a very close 2nd!

I voted for Dagon, but ITMOM is my close second. I wish At the Mountains of Madness was made.

Why is The Call of Cthulhu not on the list? It is the truest Lovecraft adaptation to date, and when the HPLHS releases Whisperer it is sure to take it's place. I am yet to be blown away by a Lovecraft adaptation. I could complain for hours about Mountains not getting made but I won't. Edit: In the Mouth of Madness is awesome.

Yeah, I'd like to see The Call of Cthulhu on the list, as well as Dan Gildark's Cthulhu, of which I am apparently one of the few fans. Also, Marebito got some attention from friends of mine, even though I was more lukewarm to it (although I'll take it over Shimizu's tepid Ju-On: The Grudge).
Of the ones listed, I'd go with Re-Animator for the top spot.

I'm going with Re-animator and In the Mouth of Madness. Still would love to see From Beyond.

That's what I'd pick from the list as well.
