Took me a while to respond. I don't think a serial killer has ever re-enacted the seven deadly sins. Those two killers, while memorable, are a little too Machiavellian. I think the majority of serial killers are more like Kyung-chul in that they are driven by violent sexual desires.

He doesn't want the chase to end, because once it ends he has to deal with the pain of losing his loved one. What is illogical about that? Seems pretty logical.

I'm chomping at the bit for a hopefully stacked DVD/Blu-Ray in the near future.

9.5/10
I absolutely 100% agree with everything you wrote. Thank you!

THANK YOU - 100% correct...and I thought it was accomplished masterfully. At first I thought Kim Soo was torturing Kyung-chul to keep his promise; but it became quite clear in the end that he was delaying an inevitable mourning.

I was hooked from the snowy intro and Kyung-chul may have catapulted to the top of my villains list.

I questioned this myself while watching it, but I just went with it. I've noticed that all of the Korean films I have seen are pretty over the top.

This film was really good and it gives Oldboy a run for it's money. It was really tense and incredibly entertaining.

The automobile abduction made me lol though, see over the top.

I bought this film on a whim without watching it beforehand. Thankfully it turned out to be one of those risks that paid off. It took the revenge premise to a really interesting place and threw in some action film flourishes to it. Like the car abduction scene, for example. It was a nice twist on the revenge genre and the ending really sets it apart.

No, I did not mean serial killers doing exactly what Hannibal Lecter & John Doe did. What I was trying to say was there were serial killers who actually ate their victims like what Dr. Lecter did (i.e: Tsutomu Miyazaki & Alexander Bychkov come to mind) and there were serial killers whom believed he was doing God a favor like what John Doe did (i.e: Eddie "Hammer", an Indonesian serial killer who attacked his victims to death using a sledgehammer because he viewed his targets as "sinful weaklings, who wasted God's gift by being weak" if I'm not mistaken. He killed 3 people before being imprisoned, and in prison he hammered, pun intended, 2 of his cell-mates to death because he viewed the both of them to be a weaker being than he was & God wouldn't like it if they had continued living).

But yes, I agree with u saying majority of serial killers are driven by violent sexual desires. Jeffrey Dahmer & Ted Bundy comes to mind. And here in Indonesia, we also have a serial killer called Rian The Mutilator on a death row. He killed and severed the body parts of 11 people (including a kid & a pregnant woman) for mostly sexual (and financial) reasons.
