Default I Saw The Devil

"Lee Byung-hyun (The Good, the Bad and the Weird) stars as Dae-hoon, a special agent whose pregnant wife becomes the latest victim of a disturbed and brutal serial killer, captivatingly played by Oldboy's Choi Min-sik. Vowing revenge, Dae-hoon blurs the lines between hunter and hunted and good and evil, eventually becoming a monster himself in his twisted pursuit of revenge."

I saw this yesterday at a screening at Lincoln Center in NYC, and all I can say is...wow. When the film wrapped the audience literally sat there in a stunned silence (while I stood up and applauded, natch). Brutal, uncompromising, beautifully shot, perfectly acted (the killer, played by the main character from Oldboy, put on one of the best shows of villainy i've seen in a long time), and with at least two stunning and truly downbeat turns in the plot, I Saw the Devil is definitely the film to beat for '11. I'm chomping at the bit for a hopefully stacked DVD/Blu-Ray in the near future.

9.5/10

Dogtooth. I'm really into weird, obscene, violent and replusive shit. I have very strange taste in films to say the least.

Dogtooth was damn good, very odd, but I'm also a fan of the odd and obscene.

As for I Saw the Devil... Great film. A must watch.

This movie was beyond amazing. Min-sik Choi does such a great job. Definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful which is weird to call such a crazy movie beautiful. 10/10
