It is the best Craig has offered us, to me however, it is still no Goldfinger.

Finally got around to seeing this today and loved it.
It's one classy flick. The song, the opening credits, the action scenes and the villain. All top shelf quality. Daniel Craig is as smooth as ever and Judi Dench deserves a supporting actress award come Oscar time. The cinematography is also excellent, especially the Shanghai/Macua and Scotland scenes. Well done to Rodger Deakins for making the film look gorgeous. Only complaint I have and it's very minor is that I would've liked Javier Bardem to have a tad more screen time. I loved his character. I would've also like to have seen more of his fucked up face, but I guess this franchise has really gone the TDK route and gotten a rid of a lot of the cartoonish elements from the franchise. That's OK because realism really suits these films. 4.5/5

Well I'll be that guy.
Didn't really care for it... Still hate Craig as Bond and I felt that I've seen this story done better multiple times in better films. 7/10 at best for awesome action

You must not know me very well. I have always hated Craig as Bond.
Be honest folks, this movie was action 101... Nothing to see here, move along. Edit But in all seriousness, I don't get why this is so highly acclaimed. Casino Royale was a lot better, but this was a huge step up from QOS (which is the worst Bond movie ever).

It was very entertaining and had great action scenes, but that's it. It's your standard big budget action flick. |

Spoilers abound so...
I'll third what coffee and the Rev said. I was really bothered that nobody in MI6 can shoot (apparently) and Bond basically fails to save you know who. The movie basically takes us back to square one. By introducing Q and the gadgets and bringing in a new M, it's like the reboot is already being rebooted. What happened to the big worldwide terrorist network introduced in Royale? And why can't the series bring in real world conflicts and scenarios to offer up some boldness and relevance to the films? I think a story involving Bond rescuing the prince from the Taliban or something would be pretty cool. But instead we get a cartoonish villain with a prosthetic and a story that's already sort of been done. Finally, why the fuck did Bond and Co. have to square off against Silva alone, when they could have called in the calvary like they did when they initially caught him? The climax was exciting but incredibly inane. /rant Last edited by Dr. McStuffin; 03-26-2013 at 08:39 PM. |
