If I had to describe Silent Hill Revelation, I would say "Well...that happened". I wouldn't call it terrible per se and it's certainly nowhere near the worst movie I've ever seen, but I did find it to be incredibly lame. I never put much stock in the whole "Prepare for a 3D ride through Hell" tagline because I assumed it was just playing off the amusement park motif. But after watching the movie, I realized it was actually an allegory for the movie being a 94 minute haunted house attraction. This became clear to me in the scene where
the spider-mannequin held the newly detached head up to the screen. It's just too bad that the sight gags in our figurative haunted house weren't surprising or particularly interesting unless you're easily startled by people yelling BOO! or the squeamish type when it comes to blood and creepy faces.I think the phrase "Well...that happened" fits the movie perfectly because that's what I thought throughout the run time. "How will Heather get out of this one? Oh, like that". "What will become of this new development? Nothing apparently". "Hey a new character! Bye new character". It was almost like an impatient Silent Hill slide show. Other points of interest -That Pyramid Head and Claudia fight scene felt so out of place. -The spider-mannequin making web out of plastic wrap was a neat touch. -They sure tried to hammer home the "different realities, different silent hills" plot point. -I understand the scene between Heather and "Memory of Dark Alessa". It still looks silly. -It's been a long time since I played Silent Hill 2, but I remember nurses attacking me without my flashlight on and without making a sound. Yet for some reason the movie universe insists on making them act like this ![]() Dare I say it, this was Silent Hill's Dragonball: Evolution. If you enjoyed the movie different strokes and all that. More power to ya.

I find it odd that some reviewers are calling this movie "bloodless." Yes, there were a few off-screen kills, but there was plenty of blood splattered and countless body parts tossed about. Hell, at one point blood actually dripped down the camera lens a la Evil Dead.
My fingers are crossed for an extended cut that corrects some of the rushed scenes. As for the storyline and character development/motivations, they are quite sufficient for those whose pay attention. The need is for atmosphere, not general character development and pulled plot threads. |

Reviews and word of mouth are extremely disappointing... I'll be waiting to see this when it is released on home media.

Overall, Id say it was slightly above mediocre. It had some great concepts but some poorly executed ones. The story was pretty sloppy and unless you had Silent Hill videogame knowledge, you would be left scratching your head at many things. My wife understood most of the movie but I needed to fill her in on certain things that werent explained on screen so it fully clicked. I didnt hate it but definitely didnt love it. We both loved Pyramidhead fucking shit up,
albeit the end fight was a little cheesy , and the nice tits on the nurses. The first movie was a much better experience but will check this out again when the dvd gets released to see if my mind changes upon another viewing. I also dont understand the route they went with the ending. Do they really plan on making another sequel? |

I loved the atmosphere and the creatures, but the story was so straightforward it was fairly predictable. The plot was much more WTFish in the first one and that added so much for me. It was still a nice visit to one of my favorite vacation spots.
