I question your definition of "classic" and defy you to explain away the necessity of a classic to have wide appeal. I would love to broaden your mind by imparting to you my encyclopedic knowledge off all things cinematically extreme, but alas, you broke my no-double-quoting policy.

Nothing but a front... I have nothing to reply to that. 70's still take the cake.

Classics are renowned films of first rank, reference points in film mythology, or films that have become a part of American cultural folklore. http://www.filmsite.org/classicsfilms.html 70s horror classics: Jaws The Exorcist The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Halloween Alien Nothing from the 90s or the 00s can compete with any of those. Slither? C'mon, you're obviously trolling. |

I also suggest The Mafu Cage and Private Parts (1972). WonderLust commented on The Candy Snatchers though it isn't an actual horror film. Horrorific to certain people for sure. Dismal? Check. It veers toward exploitation more than horror. If you don't catch the irony and humour of it all... I'd work on that. Def a list to go by...

Nice, thanks. I've seen Blood, and Lace, and thought it was funny, in the ironic kind of way, but not too dark though, and I've seen The Baby... lol I wanted to jump through the screen and kick that loud mouth bastard, but the ending was really good. I'll try to dig up as much as I can,... been on a 70's, and Troma kick lately.

Yeah? I found it dark... I mean given the way the orphanage, was it? Operated. It was the things said that had me cackling. Fook... The young girl and the owner were having an exchange and one said something outright knee-slapping... I forget. Oh well. I mentioned this one earlier, La Residenica(The House That Screamed?). Argento took note on this one and it is similar to Blood and Lace except it is serious in tone. At one point I figured it to be a slight WIP picture... atmosphere is the Spanish forte.
