Default Ex Machina (2015)

Quote:
Caleb Smith (Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company's brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Isaac). Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), an astonishing A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated, seductive––and more deceptive–– than the two men could have imagined.

The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Issac, and Alicia Vikander. It also marks the directorial debut of Alex Garland, screenwriter of 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, and Dredd; author of The Beach, The Tesseract, and The Coma. He directs from his own screenplay.

Ex Machina will open in the UK on February 23, and April 10 in the US.

Just saw the trailer to this and it looks good, has great reviews as well.

So many damn movies to check out at the cinema, already going twice this week.

Yeah this looks not to shabby, although the voice over in the trailer annoys me. Is it Ex-Mackina or Ex-Machine-a? I thought it would have been pronounced the lkatter, no? Not that it actually matters just wanting it cleared up.

Pronounced Ex-Mackina, get it right or the people at the ticket booth will laugh in your face and refuse you entry.

I want to see this for the lighting and set designs alone.

I don't plan on seeing it at the cinema but you never know. That's fine I thought it was just the way the guy in the voice over said it, you know Americans and their pronunciation, har-har.

Not sure I trust the writer of this. If you're capable of writing the tragedy that is the last twenty minutes of Sunshine, I'm not sure if you should be trusted in writing or directing a film ever again.

But the reviews are good, so that's a positive. Is it even possible for Oscar Isaac to be in a bad film these days? Low-key building one of the best filmography's in Hollywood right now.

Pretty Good, can't say anything bad about it really, as I usually try to find something bad. Most of the characters fit their parameters of who their character was. It had a similar vibe as Sunshine, with the atmosphere and Indie like quietness and camera work that fits in that style of movie making, only, it wasn't approached sloppily, so that was a plus, good looking film. It reminded me of the Camera work and Sound atmosphere of Oculus.

All in all a good movie in my opinion, but I'll see what others have to say If I missed something that makes the movie really bad or questionable.
