The Collection

I re-watched The Collector before going into the sequel. The first thing I noticed was The Collection has a much bigger budget and its evident from all the set pieces. This film waste no time getting the ball rollin and its pretty much non stop blood letting from start to finish. The ending was not really predictable but I can say I honestly saw it coming.

I'm also stoked to meet Josh Stewart later this year!
If anyone knows where I can purchase/download the Japanese poster for The Collector, Id appreciate it!

Old Boy
I was expecting a lot more violence than there was. So I was let down by that, otherwise it was pretty good though, I don't think it was breath taking as alot of people seem to think, and it isn't anywhere near the level of awesome as I Saw The Devil is. It was good though, and the story is pretty well done, apart from a bit of a cop-out reasoning behind it all. But I suppose those people take the whole 'honour' thing a lot more serious than the rest of us.

6.5/10

Black Swan 10/10

I...

agree. It's overrated and nowhere near as awesome and satisfying as I Saw the Devil.

I was just expecting A LOT more when people would compare it to ISTD whenever I was talking about it. So, I was expecting a lot. And it fell short. It's not bad though.

I loved the side scrolling fight scene.

hmmm I personally wouldn't compare it to I Saw the Devil.

I personally love Oldboy, but I think its aging to be more of an influential film for a new generation of filmmakers in the future than it being remembered as a masterpiece. I Saw the Devil is equally amazing but in a much different way.

Ok.

I don't care for it. I've tried rewatching it several times and can never get into it.

I rewatched Oldboy a while ago and still think it is a great movie and no-doubt influential. However I don't think the movie ages too well with rewatches as first viewing is a punch in the gut. Personally I think Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is Chan Wook Park's best film.

As for I Saw The Devil I HATED that film, the first 15 mins sets up a great crime/revenge film but then it runs with the most absurd and laughable concept with inane twists in the story. Just wanted to vent my opinion I know its well liked here so each to their own.

Our theatre isn't getting Django Unchained in so I've been watching Inglorious Basterds excessively to help with the Tarantino withdrawls. Such a great movie. Top 3 for storyline for sure but definitely number 1 on my list for most visually appealing Tarantino flick.
