The Hobbit
Personally my most anticipated movie of the year, expectation went already through the rafters but in the end it didn't make me entirely happy. Not only because of the horryfying 48fps (HFR) technology, which makes the film look like a cheap videogame or a videotape being slightly fast forwarded during fast movements/action scenes, but mainly because of the absence of the magic and wonderful aura of its predecessors, the LOTR of course. That feeling didn't come up at all, no matter how hard I tried to digest the thing. It felt as a whole a bit shallow, though the action scenes and CGI are state of the art and the score one outstanding piece of film music. Sometimes I felt that the score is superior to the visuals. Another imperfection in the Hobbit mosaic. Only one scene stood out, the one in which Bilbo meets Gollum in his cave. Great interaction and acting of both characters, plus the mimic in Gollums face has vastly improved due to the advanced CGI technology. That was surely great to watch at. Above all action scenes, there was the battle of the stone giants in the Misty Mountains, which makes the film memorable to me, also the intro in Erebor, including the attack of the dragon Smaug . Unfortunately, he isn't visible that much - we have to wait one more year for a full display of him.Mentioned are two up to three villains, but only one is in constant action. Too bad that "The Defiler" looked more like a character being cut out of a videogame, rather than a figure living in Middle Earth. Not that good.On the actors side...Ian McKellen as Gandalf was solid all the way through, so to speak for Martin Freeman as Bilbo, who surprisingly convinced me. Cate Blanchett was flawless as always, only Richard Armitage as Thorin seemed a bit hollow. There are several other aspects, which are interesting to discuss too, but this can be read here. I can say, as a big fan of LOTR, I am clearly disappointed because of the lack of magic the LOTR are known for, as a moviegoer not so much, but still disenchanted due to the absence of a real climax, a real wtf-moment. Maybe I am just too overfed by the LOTR. I need a rewatch in regular 2D, I can only recommend you against the 48fps technology, don't watch it. It will destroy your pleasure watching the movie - plus your final judgement too. As for now I rate it 7-8/10 - more a 7 than an 8

Catfish - 3/5
I feel sorry for this dude. He's fallen in love with a girl and her family on Facebook only to find out that it's one person messing with his head. Now he has a Catfish TV show on MTV to exploit people who have false identities on FB. |

If it's fake, it's lame and underwhelming. If real, mean and unnecessary. Depressed, ugly/fat, people pretend to be someone who'd they'd like to be online? Color me shocked.

Indeed. I vomited everywhere while watching it but oddly didn't mind it.
