The Dark Knight Rises
Gave it a rewatch today and just like the first time, it was fun to watch at. My home theatre system was pushed to its limits and the screen exploded with great eyeycandies. It really felt like that the comic book-feeling was purposed and incorporated intentionally, at least at those scenes, which were under heavy fire here. It worked better than in theater a half year ago and I got even accostumed to Gordon-Levitts performance and meaning in this film. Plus, the last scene in the french cafe was also coherent now, knowing, that Bruce applied a patch to the auto pilot function within his pod prior to his abscence in the prison. No major problem with it, except for the schmaltz at the end (funeral, statue and shit) and the short on-screen time for Batman. I would rate it 7 up to 8/10 now. It wouldn't have hurt to add it, since they stretched the nomination list for Best Picture to nine (!) entries. Wankers.

the Dark Knight Rises - 8.5/10 (Final score. My 3rd viewing was easily the most enjoyable. Still my least favorite but an epic conclusion none-the-less)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - 9/10 (this is where the series starts getting really really good) Looper - 8/10 (not as good as I thought it would be but still awesome. Hell, I feel that the Harry Potter movie I just watched had more fun with the time travel elements. Other than it being largely uncreative and a bit emotionally hollow, it was pretty excellent in all categories. Love seeing sci-fi done right.)

Lincoln - 9/10 - Excellent film, though it just seemed like a little something was missing...like the part where Abe slays vampires....

I always found the subject of "Snuff" interesting so this movie grabbed me from the very beginning. Cage gave a solid performance IMO. |

Dracula (1931) twice
I watched the scored version for the first time. I loved it! It adds more 'excitement' to the film, but, it also takes away that silent, eerie atmosphere. I don't think either version is better than the other, depending on what mood I'd be in would be the deciding factor in the future. I also watched it with the Commentary. Ehh, it wasn't toooo bad, but he rattles off too much on the original book, which is all well and good, but it isn't commentating on the film. It's fair enough though, it's not like he was there working on it so it's decent enough for what it is. The Dark Knight Rises I really love this. I find it hard to believe the dislike. Watching the features gives me such respect for Nolan. How much he loves to do out of CGI. Something so few directors get. ![]() Battle Royal Hadn't seen it before so when I saw it on Blu I snatched it the fuck up. What an awesome flick. I hope that whore who wrote 'The Hunger Games' rots in hell while being gang raped by the KKK. Great film though, the CGI blood was a bit of a let down but it works for these Jap flicks as it adds a certain camp feel. Well rounded film though, it was pretty good watching it play out how it did. 9/10 Ed Wood Been dying to see this, so glad I have now. I think this is Tim Burtons finest film. Underrated IMO. Although, I'm a Lugosi nut so I think it's partial to me for that reason. What a wonderful job though all round. I even got choked up in some of the scenes where Bela isn't doing too well. Could have used some more in depth features but over all it's so solid. 10/10

"Gremlins".....One of the most solid monster comedy/horror movies around. Great direction and special effects, a fine cast, humor, camp, chills, and thrills. The handsome Zach Galligan is top notch and the lovely Phoebe Cates is great. Horror and teen movie vet Corey Feldman is a fun added addition to the movie..as is Dick Miller. Love the scenes where that old bitch flies out the window and also the kitchen and living room scenes with Billy's mom. The bar and theatre scenes with the gremlins are also great!! A great 80's hit and a wonderful roller-coaster ride!! It never gets old and is fun to watch every time!!
10/10
