"Village Of The Damned (1995)".....John Carpenter's remake of the 1960 original has little to add, but it's more violent and explicit. The plot is the same; 10 women get pregnant simultaneously during a group pass out. Several years go by and the children all look similar and stick together. They appear to be anything but normal and once they start killing the residents of the small village it's clear they have to be stopped. Carpenter is really a master of suspense and some scenes work remarkably well, however this is not one of his best films. Not much happens here and the film drags a bit, plus the inclusion of a government intervention and a possible world wide epidemic of these children does little to further the film. But still, Carpenter manages to create a decent amount of suspense and uneasiness by playing on the film's simple premise; that little children are the evildoers here. The soulless stares and glowing eyes are enough to creep you out. The social statement about people (and children) becoming indifferent to violence is a valid input, since the film couldn't really go for the same underlying meaning as the original, which was made during the cold war; the children personifying the threat from the east penetrating the west. There are also some pretty good special effects, some okay ensemble casting/acting, and great cinematography. This is an average John Carpenter film, but I have always enjoyed it.

At least I've caught up some on older horror flicks I hadn't yet seen even if I was underwhelmed by them.

"Star Wars 6: Return Of The Jedi".........Well the saga is now complete. This chapter gets alot of hassle because of the Ewoks(I love them), but there are so many reasons to love this movie. The rescue of Han Solo from Jabba. This officially wraps up the Han Solo in debt sub-plot that was established when we first met the character in A NEW HOPE. The Emperor was finally revealed: Well this might not work as well now that the prequels are out but this was the first time we saw The Emperor back then. The exciting and thrilling speeder bike chases are terrific!! Lots of great action in space and on earth. Not to mention the 3 Part climax: 1. The Battle of Endor (Led by Han and Leia) 2. Luke Confronts his Father & The Fall of the Emperor 3. The Destruction of the Second Death Star (Lando's Moment). Awesome action, great music score, solid directing, memorable characters, terrific special effects, and spirited performances all highlight the movie. All in all, this was a great final chapter for our heroes and a fitting end to the STAR WARS story. Nominated for 5 Oscars(art direction, sound, sound effects,score, and visual effects) and winning 1(visual effects).

The most entertaining of the saga, although the Ewoks do hamper it down a bit, it nonetheless was my favourite as a kid.

Thought this was a riot. Hilarious dark humor, a different take on zombies/vampires (zombie/vampire vigilantes) and some good gore gags and fx work. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it was a tad longer than it should have been.

Nice. The Revenant was awesome. Funny how really good horror movies, like this, Cabin in the Woods, and Poughkeepsie Tapes get kept under wraps for years on end...

hmm, never heard of it. Something new to check out.

Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - The Egg of the King - long ass title... but this is the 2012 movie version of the classic, epic medieval anime called Berserk. This movie updates the animation with the latest technology in cg, and all that jazz. I thought it looked amazing, the battle with the Zodd the Immortal being a perfect example, but I have read many complaints about the use on 2d on 3d, etc. The story goes about to the halfway point of the anime, and then leaves on an anticlimatic cliffhanger. Ultimately, this is one of the greatest anime ever, so seeing it in 2012 getting the same treatment as the new Evangelion is great. Cant wait for the final 2 movies. 9/10
