Ghoulies II -- 5/10; It's a half step down from the orig, but one can only admire a Ghoulie that can catch a Chinese star with its teeth.

Children of the Corn (1984)

Not as bad as I remember. Decent enough entertainment. Problem is it lacks any sense of dread and suspense. Not scary in the slightest. They should have used King's superior and darker ending. Ending here is typical Hollywood BS.

Good cast, though and some excellent cinematography and a nice music score. Opening diner massacre is well done.

Could use a non Syfy channel remake.

6/10

The Cabin in the Woods - 10/10

Fucking loved it!

Completely out of control, over the top and plays on the cliches perfectly, while then throwing us for one hell of a loop towards the end. I didn't look into the film really because I didn't want to know too much going in, and I'm glad I went in that way, because there was so much that I didn't see coming. It was hilarious and tense simultaneously, a few jumpy moments, a bunch of decent gore and...

even a fucking Merman. Now that was priceless.

Awesome film. This is one for the books. Can't wait for the DVD, need to see the special features on this one.

PS: Marty is the fucking man.

Bedeviled - Been hearing a lot about this for quite some time. Did not disappoint. To borrow a quote from Kill Bill, That woman deserves her revenge. Great movie all around, with a great story, that has a couple of subtle twists that hit hard. It begins with a dark dramatic tone, and slowly turns into a slasher/revenge flick. Everything is played straight though, so I have a hard time putting the "slasher" title on it, but it clearly has some influences from the genre.

If I had one complaint, it would be that the ending kind of goes a bit too far. Not that it's bad in any way really, just that I thought there was a better moment to end the movie on, about ten minutes before the actual finale. Not a big deal by any means though.

See this movie.

9.5/10

Father's Day (2011)

Finally unleashed on Blu-Ray & DVD. Still one of the most entertaining flicks I saw this year.

The third act is INSANE and awesome.

10/10
