I just finished watching Megan is Missing. The movie is pretty bad, the acting is bad, the casting of 40 year old men to play teenagers is laughable until you get to the last 20 minutes. There are still images meant to shock you and hold your attention to "Shit just got real" Those images are hard to look at. I suggest watching it.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? That's the r1 version I have. Oh you mean the fact that he narrated during the film. GOTCHA NOW. I thought you meant it was dubbed. Yeah, I'm not fond of that shit either, and to tell you the truth, I'm a SK buff from age 15+, so nostalgia mixed in with high expectations interfered prolly. Still... That was no Dahmer in Dahmer 2002 :P

The Dictator.
Like every other Sasha Baron Cohen feature film it was shit. He used to be funny as Ali G but ever since he has this preoccupation with attacking jewry in the name of 'satire' and generally being a hack. It was better than Bruno and not as good as Borat, which puts it in the category of a turd that's not quite as smelly as another turd. 3/10 |

V/H/S (2012)
This was my most anticipated film for the reminder of the year based on the fantastic trailer. Movie wasn't as awesome as the trailer but still an entertaining and solid anthology/ found footage flick. The wrap around story isn't as engaging as it should have been and some explainations on WTF is going on in some of the stories would have been appreciated but it still delivered lots of gore and nudity and some truly freaky and scary moments. Favorite story is the Skype one. 8/10 |

Never Cry Werewolf -- 5.5/10; I finally finished watching this and thought the second half was rather decent. The werewolf design was good and the acting passable. Unfortunately, the quick cuts ruined much of the atmosphere.

Batman Returns - Sillyness, and absurd character origins aside, this is actually pretty good. I think the internet made me hate it. I hadn't seen this flick in around six years, and found myself enjoying it, despite it's many significant flaws. Visually, it's outstanding. Gotham in winter time has never been so realized(although, I have yet to see TDKR). Not to mention the amazing set-peices that only Tim Burton can deliver.
There is some stupid shit, no doubt. Mainly Catwoman's zombie-like origin, and Penguin's far-reaching claim to power, or his mechanical manipulation over simple penguins. Max Shreck seems to only appear when it's convenient as well, but I digress. It's a damn enjoyable romp through Gotham City nontheless. I also like how they make fun of the original Batman movie's main shortcoming, in having Vicki Vale discover who Batman is, in his Batcave no less. I also liked the relationship between Kyle and Wayne. Sure, it's nothing special, but at least it's there. The nods that Nolan made to this franchise are also more prevalent, like the batmobile getting damaged into a batpod-like vehicle. Well, I guess that's the only one, but still, very cool. I used to think Batman Forever was one of my "guilty pleasures", but that movie gets more and more forgettable with each viewing. This flick left me with a better taste in my mouth, and I have to say I really liked it. 8/10 Last edited by Heretic; 08-06-2012 at 06:51 PM. |
