Indeed it does. Savini's gore in this film alone, makes it at least a 6.

The gore is by far the brightest element to the film and very memorable. It would've been better overall if some of the chase scenes weren't so damn drawn out.

I would go as far as to call this film a masterpiece. It's scary, it's somber, and it's strangely uplifting.
