Nightmare City (Italian 1980)



It's about a reporter, Dean Miller who is assigned with his cameraman to interview a scientist that is arriving in the local airport. While waiting for the arrival, an unidentified Hercules makes an emergency landing and is surrounded by a military force. When the doors open, a legion of blood thirsty creatures commanded by the scientist attack the soldiers, killing them with hatchets and drinking their blood. Dean tries to warn the population about the happening but is censored by General Murchison. Later the military leaders discover that the creatures have not come from the outer space, but are human beings contaminated by radiation and needing to drink blood to stay undead. Dean unsuccessfully calls his wife Dr. Anna Miller and heads to the hospital where she works, trying to escape from the city crowded of the increasing walking dead creatures.

I found this movie to be quite entertaining to watch, if not a bit weird to say the list. It did have a few creepy moments, but the funny part was people stayed were they were while being attacked instead of fleeing. Which at times they had plenty of time to flee. All in all I'll give this movie a 7/10

Man on a Ledge

Didn't finish it but from what I saw I'd give it a 4/10 but it's really just not my type of movie I'm sure others think it's better.

Revenge (1986)

Sequel to "Blood Cult" Unlike that movie this was shot on film instead of video and looks far better. The acting is better (but still pretty meh) but it's not nearly as gory although it does have some good bits of graphic violence.

The finale is entertaining and I liked that it answered all the unanswered questions from the original. I also like it begins right after the first one ended.

It's nothing great but for this B-movie fiend it was an entertaining enough 90 or so minutes and a good follow up to Blood Cult.

Splintered - about a girl who believes in urban legends, and coerces her friends, who she's travelling with, to investigate the legend in that area. But one she gets knocked out, and isolated in a room by herself, she's left wondering just who, or what brought here there. Not your typical werewolf movie. They usually end up being about the werewolf but this was stictly about the final girl. The movie tries to work some character study in the half second flashbacks, but it just doesn't work. The first half of the movie is restrained, with a good atmosphere, but moves along rather slowly. When the action starts, the film is seriously hampered by the sound effects. I just couldn't get over those punch sounds. 5.5/10

A couple re-watches last night for different reasons

House of The Devil - I was extremely indifferent to this the first time I saw it years ago so I gave it another shot. And nothing changed for me. It is well made and they nailed the 80s vibe but I'm just not a big fan. 5/10

In The Mouth Of Madness - It had been a long time since I'd seen it and I'd been wanting to watch it again for the last few weeks. Great movie that is really underrated. Stands up with Carpenter's best. The Lovecraftian vibe is excellent.

I really enjoyed it, yes it's a little outdated but Smith and Jones are too much fun in their respective roles...Seeing this makes me want to see part 3 now...
