i haven't seen beyond the grave...but it's worth checking out, eh?
i adore most of the royalty of horror--lon cheney sr and jr, bela lugosi, vincent price, peter cushing, christopher lee, and others--but boris karloff is my favorite. he could be menacing, sympathetic, confused, mindless, gentle, a braod gamut of extreme types, and he had such respect for the work. i will always admire boris' willingness to appear in all manner of movies, his desire to work late in his old age and ill health, and the general way he comported himself. bride of frankenstein and the black cat are two of my all time favorite movies, but by god do i also love the grinch. the man was dogged and versatile. and he loved animals and gardening, to boot! |

Hmmm...
I guess if I had to choose one it would be Vincent Price, but Boris Karloff is awfully damn close behind.... Ugh....I have too much respect for both actors who a tremendous impact on horror and many times delievered unnderrated sometimes tour de force performances....their legacy is overwhelming on horror and that is not at all discounting the rest and their mark they left... |

As to my favourite, Dick Miller perhaps. His performance in Bucket of Blood is note perfect. |

For all around horror actor it has to be Karloff, with Lon Chaney Sr. a trailblazing and very close second.
