For Garth Ennis check out Preacher. It's his magnum opus. You'll never look at anything the same. His run on Punisher MAX is awesome too. You really can't go wrong with him, especially if you have a completely deranged sense of humor. He did a one shot called The Pro about what happens when you give a hooker super powers.

I'd also recommend Warren Ellis' comic book work, particularly Transmetropolitan.

I'm reading The Turner Diaries by Andrew McDonald. It's insane! You get the feeling it was written by a genuine maniac, which makes it all the more fascinating

My latest trilogy of non-fiction nastiness.

First up is Lords of Chaos by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind which focuses on the Norwegian Black Metal scene of the early 90's. Satanic rituals, murder, suicide, church arson, all the usual fun and games. A good read, and you don't need to be into black metal to enjoy it.

Second, we have The Franklin Cover Up by John DeCamp. In this book DeCamp claims that within American high society there exists a Satanic cult run by wealthy business men and politicians. They use their power and money to lure children into their debauched practices where they are raped and sacrificed. One little girl has her head cut off and another is forced to watch and then has her eyeballs scooped out. A 1 year old boy has darts thrown at him repeatedly, another girl has her head cut off with a buzzsaw, a 3 year old Indian girl is cut into pieces and put into a food blender, and the other kids are then forced to drink the resulting 'cannibal shake'. The atrocities go on and on to Sadean extremes.
I haven't done much research into this, but the book seems a bit odd. All the way through reading it i got the feeling it was all a haux. It's hard to explain why, and i could be wrong, but there are little details that just don't sit right. The Franklin Cover Up just seemed like a book equivalent to a docu-horror movie. And for the sake of those kids, i hope i'm right. Everyone involved in the case winds up dead. Anyone who claims to have evidence of the rituals winds up dead. But DeCamp, whose book has done more to highlight the case than anyone, is still very much with us... Now ain't that a little suspicious?

Last but not least we have Pure by Peter Sotos. Pure was a short-lived magazine that ran for two issues before its author/editor was thrown in jail. These magazines dealt with serial killers, but the difference here is that Sotos didn't write his articles as a detached journalist just stating the facts, he glamourized the killers and their crimes, and claimed that their victims deserved their horrendous fates! Included are many real crime scene photos of mangled corpses with every stab wound, bullet hole, and strangulation lovingly detailed and commented on like they're the most beautiful thing in the world (yep, it's the pits alright). Added to this are random pornographic pics just put in there for good measure, and the most outrageous front covers you'll ever see. Without a doubt it's the most fucked up shit i've ever read. There's nothing more to see.

Perhaps the most disturbing book on earth is the COLOUR ATLAS OF FORENSIC PATHOLOGY (1975) You can view all the photos of suicides and murders and the scalpels cutting in, all fine. Then comes the pictures of mutilated and rotted children and babies. That really twists your stomach.

I saw some stuff like that on Youtube when it first started before the flagging and removal of videos became common, horrible stuff.

1975? Will it still be in print? Do you have a copy?

I've just checked Amazon, there's what appears to be updated versions, one from 1999, but going for stupid prices. The 1975 one is "unavailable". I haven't checked ebay yet.

Yeah, those Amazon prices are way too much, they don't even have any customer reviews. Luckily, there are other avenues to explore, and i'm aquiring my own copy as i type. To be honest with ya, i'm dreading looking at this; 780 pics! It's gonna be an endurance test.
