Not really a fan of "The Brood", but "Rabid" messed with me as a kid. I use to have it on vhs, still a classic!!

SHIVERS and THE BROOD were really creepy, so I'd be open to seeing this one.

I just checked netflix and this was never there before it said "SAVED"

just checked and they have it! I thought it was OOP??

"Rabid".....This 1976 Canadian classic is solid!!!! One of David Cronenbergs best horror movie's and a big fave of mine. The lovely pornstar Marilyn Chambers was hit and miss in her performance. She had some great screams and facial expressions, but her acting was mediocre for the most part. The same goes for her onscreen boyfriend played by Frank Moore (Hart)....who looks alot like Christopher Walken. His best moment was his last scene. The screenplay is fairly strong, as is the directing. Nice special effects for that time/budget. Add in some blood and gooey gore, as well as some shocking and thrilling scenes... make Rabid a wonderful horror movie.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was for the crazy Troma film 'Rabid Grannies', which is also pretty messed up, in it's own fun kind of way...

It's a different movie. Unless Rabid Grannie's is Cronenberg'e final cut.

first thing that popped into my head when I saw him.

This early Cronenberg body horror film is just a good all around movie. Solid acting, even from the porn star. Good camera work. Truly discomforting scenes of horror, specially in the close ups of the arm pit... stuff like that always makes me squirm. The story of an almost vampire like seductress turning people into rabid zombies was unexpected, and fresh. 7.5/10

Cronenberg needs to return to this crazy shit.
